Pink Abstract #2
Abstract works are modes to experimentation of materials and ideas allowing for spontaneity and reactions to emerge.
Created using a cold wax and oil paint method
Born in Ngaruawahia in 1963, her childhood was spent moving around the North Island of New Zealand.
As a young adult Cristina moved to West Auckland and discovered it was the perfect environment to harness her creative spirit and allow it to thrive, she has lived there ever since.
She has a Certificate of Visual Art, from Rutherford High School and a BFA(HONS) and MFA(HONS) from Elam at Auckland University . She combines her art practice with working as a picture framer/art restorer at Homestead Framers in Henderson. Cristina was trained by Charlie Rose in art restoration of oil paintings and de-foxing of paper works
Influenced by women artists working with repetition and everyday elements from the domestic environment, her work has been described as feminine feminism. As a child of the sixties she grew up surrounded by colour in fashion, home and garden, these elements still influence her today. Nostalgic objects offer her a portal to the past which are used as a starting point in her art allowing for narratives to emerge.
We offer framing services in two sizes, A3 and A2 in four different colour options black, white, rimu and oak style finish. It's an easy, affordable way to give a completed (ready to hang) gift.
